The Bar!!!

Hello!

I know you all are wondering where I've been...well...here's an update!

I graduated from law school in May. Since then I've been studying for THE BAR and I hate it!!! Studying for the bar sucks! I am miserable! I am afraid that I will not memorize/learn everything.

However, I continue to study and press forward. The exam is in exactly one week - next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Send me good vibes and wish me luck.

PS: My weight is around 143-146lbs. I'm still maintaining!!!

New Attitude

I've been gone for a while. My weight is the same - 145-147lbs.

It is time that this blog take on a new attitude. I still don't want to be fat, but I think I am now able to talk about things other than food or exercise.

So I will rant here. Talk about the drama of my life, highs and lows, ups and downs.

Get ready.

Heeeeeeeeeeeey!

Hey everyone!

It's been a long time, huh? Well, new year...same weight. I am still 146 lbs. I need to get to 135 lbs because I am going on a cruise soon! I want to be hott hott hott while on the islands.

Sooooo over it.

I'm sooooo over this blogging thing and the fat/weight loss blogging community.

I'm busy with many other things and I think I'll give this blogging thing a rest. My weight has plateaued anyway.

Goodbye...for now.

Thanksgiving Recap

I really enjoyed my visit home. The trip was much needed, it put things into perspective, and I left feeling refreshed. This is a big post – it covers the following:

My Family’s Reaction
I Ran a 5K!
Physician Appointment
Shopping
Home Cooking – Yum!
An Image of Me

My Family’s Reaction
– Every time I visited a friend or relative, they would exclaim, “You have really slimmed down!” Or perhaps, “Girl, you are looking good!” It made me feel proud.

I Ran a 5K! – On Wednesday night at 10:30 pm my cousin asked if I wanted to run in a 5K the next day, which was Thanksgiving morning. He explained that it was an annual 5K – the Turkey Trot. Well, the title was cute, I enjoy donating to charity, and I realized that I needed some exercise. Years ago when I used to run (3-5 miles four days per week), I considered running a 5K or 10K, but never did. I know people that have trained weeks for a 5K. Although I had not run in years (well, short little spurts on the treadmill), I agreed! On Thanksgiving morning I ran a 5K! I ran the entire 5K! I do not know my exact time – but it was around 28 or 29 minutes. I even beat my male cousin! Afterwards I felt strong, fit, and healthy. (And I then allowed myself to indulge in many goodies!)

Physician Appointment – I had a physical in August. Then, I was 161lbs and not in the best health. My physician suggested I lose weight, eat healthier, and exercise. At my appointment Wednesday he was shocked when he entered the examination room. I weighed 146lbs on my physician’s scale, my blood pressure was great, and everything else had improved. My physician said, “You should be proud. Most of my patients do not follow my instructions. It is all about dedication and determination – something most people do not have. I really hope you keep it up.” I told him that I planned to continue on my quest for health.

Shopping – I went shopping! Tell me what you think of my purchases.

Home Cooking (Yum!) – The food was delicious!

An Image of Me – My last site counter report revealed that I had 533 page views, at an average of 15 per day. I really feel uncomfortable revealing an image of myself to stalkers or individuals that lurk around my page and do not even have the decency to comment. It makes me shudder to think of who is actually looking at my page. But here goes! Tell me what you think!

Holiday Weigh-In

Well, I'm off to my hometown to spend Thanksgiving with my family. As you know, my goal was to reach 144lbs. I stepped on the scale this morning and I was 146lbs.

Well, my loves, I suppose I have plateaued.

Oh well. I look good. I feel good. And I am excited to see my family. And as always, I will have pictures of food when I return.

I wish you all a safe and enjoyable holiday!

I'm Headed Home for the Holidays!

Today I did not have class so I was at home all day eating...and getting fat!

Well, this is going to come to an end because I am going home for Thanksgiving and I have to be HOT! The last time my family saw me was in August and I was around 165 lbs. My goal is to be 144 lbs by the time I leave. So what does that mean? That means that I have to stop stuffing my face, and get with the program! I have nine days to get my act together. Most of this is going to have to rely on diet rather than exercise because I have a lot of work to do for school between now and then, and thus, will not have much time to walk 50 million miles on the treadmill. I believe I can do this.

Today’s Menu
11:45 am - Coffee & Cream; Apple
2:50 pm - Apple; 2 Small Cans of Fruit
4:20 pm - Teriyaki Salmon; Broccoli Salad

You Are the Company You Keep

At the beginning of my weight loss journey, I joined 3FatChicks – an online weight loss community. In the beginning, I enjoyed viewing before and after photos and reading weight loss tips. But over time, I have noticed that many of the members weigh 200, 250, or even 300+ pounds. Furthermore, many of them have been members for two, three, or four years and have lost and gained the same 50 pounds numerous times. This scares me. It almost seems as though the women find comfort in sharing stories about binging on boxes of cookies, rather than sharing successful weight loss stories.

In the past week I have visited 3FatChicks less often, and have considered deleting my account entirely. Other members rarely reply to my posts, and I was once reprimanded for posting in the “100+ Pounds to Lose” thread. 3FatChicks is not the place for me, and I am afraid that it will only make me fatter, as I might begin to seek comfort from severely overweight members.

Today’s Menu
11:50 am - 2 Apples
4:30 pm - Homemade Nachos
(Tostitos, Refried Beans, Lettuce, Cheese, Salsa)
5:00 pm - Yogurt

Administrative Matters

Eating Times – I do not work, I am a student with a very flexible schedule. Sometimes I wake up at 7 am, sometimes as late as noon. I’m sure some of you think, “She eats breakfast late,” or “She eats at weird times.” Well, I’m not going to wake up just to eat. And I’m not really on a schedule.

Rudeness – I noticed that I have had over 100 visits and no comments or anything. Well, I think it is pretty rude for people to repeatedly view my page and not say a word to me! It is akin to you coming into my house unannounced, looking in my medicine cabinet, and leaving without saying a word. Maybe I’m just the type of person that comments after reading a blog’s content.

I
f you like what you see here, let me know.

Today’s Menu

1:15 pm - Apple (90)

I Feel Exotic!

Before heading home today, I stopped for Indian takeout. I decided to get the Paneer Aloo Chili Masala. The menu described it as “Fresh homemade cheese and potatoes sautéed with onions, green chili pepper cooked in a curry sauce (hot).” All entrees are served with Basmati Rice. Although the dish was spicy, it was pretty good and tasty. I measured out 1c of the rice, and 1c of the entrée. The calorie count is an estimate.

Today’s Menu
11:30 am - Coffee & Cream (140)
3:00 pm - Granola Bar (180)

7:15 pm - Apple (90)

Changes...

I announced a new workout plan a few days back. Well, I walked 5 miles a couple of times and honestly, I find that I dislike walking that much and it also hurts my big toe! I figure that if I do not want to get fat again, I had better do stuff that I can stick to long term. So I am going to aim to walk 2-4 miles on the treadmill 4-5 days per week.

Wanna-Be Chef

Today I prepared a tuna noodle casserole so that I will not have to cook for the next few days. I must admit, the dish was quite tasty!
D
Just so you know, it was a homemade casserole. None of that "Tuna Helper" crap which is marketed to lazy people. I swear, that stuff will kill you! Furthermore, pretty much everything I consume is prepared by me. If and when I eat food from a restaurant or another person, the source will be indicated.

For some reason I feel like my weight today is incorrect. I feel as though my scale played a trick on me. I feel like next Sunday the scale will say something totally different. This makes me very uncomfortable and almost makes me not even want to eat, but I have to live.

This morning I craved fresh fruit, so I headed off to the grocery store! I made a lovely fruit salad. Today I also had my “famous” cucumber and tomato salad. YUM! (Please see images below.)

Size 6

I went to the mall today because I had to take my friend a book that I am letting him borrow. While I was there, I decided to go into Ann Taylor LOFT because they were having a sale. I bought two pairs of dress pants – size 6. They were somewhat of a wide leg fit, but nonetheless, they were a size 6. (I also bought two sweater dresses in a size medium, but on second thought, I think I will return them.)

Additionally, I took pictures and emailed them to my mother and she said that my weight loss is noticeable. It made me feel proud.
